I learned

I learned how to smile with a mouth full of sorrow,

I learned how to lie about the marks that were on my body,

I learned how to scream internally,

I learned how to dread the warzone that was our home,

I learned that money can’t buy you happiness,

I learned sometimes love isn’t enough to fix a damaged home,

I learned to lie to your face and convince you I was fine,

I learned how to mask all my pain,

And now I learned that doing all that caused more pain,

I have grown and realized life is not as scary when you have people who love you by your side,

I have now learned not to be afraid of showing my valuable side.
